Being a part of the Penn State Chicago board is a great way to give back to the Penn State and Chicago communities while meeting fellow Nittany Lions. With your involvement, our Chapter can remain impactful to the Penn State and Chicagoland communities and continue to grow our presence in the heart of Big 10 country!
The board meets in person every two months and while position commitments vary, the average commitment per position is a few hours per month.

Executive Commitee Opportunities |
The Executive Committee of the Board consists of the following four executive officers of the Chapter and acts as the governing body of the Chapter: President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer. Below is a description of the open executive committee opportunities.
Executive committee applications are due by Friday, March 20th.
- Vice President - OPEN
The Vice President shall be the President-Elect and serve a two year term. The Vice President shall work closely with the President to manage the day-to-day operations of the Chapter. After two years as Vice President, this role transitions to the President.
- Treasurer
The Treasurer shall safeguard, account for, and disburse the funds of the Chapter. Accounts shall be balanced by the Treasurer before each Board meeting so that a report may be presented. The Treasurer is also responsible for managing and leading the Chapter's finance advisory group - which tracks the incoming/outgoing allocations, expenses, and revenue of the Chapter. The Treasurer shall file our tax forms after presenting the Chapter finances to a Certified Professional Accountant chosen by the Board
- Secretary
The Secretary shall keep the minutes and act as custodian of records. The Secretary is also responsible for conducting voting procedures. The Secretary shall work closely with the President and Vice-President to prepare all reports as required by the Alumni Association. Furthermore, it is the Secretary's responsibility to mediate communications and proposed board votes between the Executive Board and the Board of Directors.

Chairs, Directors, and Member at Large (MaL) Opportunities |

The objective of the board Chairs and Directors includes, but is not limited to: setting defined goals and taking ownership for the respective position initiatives, along with forming committees to assist with activities. Below is a description of opportunities.

Social Engagement Director - OPEN
- Schedule and plan social opportunities for Chapter members (i.e. dining outs, happy hours, membership party, etc.)
- Collaborates with the Social Media Administrator to plan, promote, and advertise events on the Chapter's social media accounts

Watch Party Director - OPEN
- Coordinate and lead activities for football watch parties
- Track and report earnings from each watch party event to the Treasurer
- Maintains relationship with host bars/restaurants and acts as point of contact for watch party events

Professional Development Director
- Identify professional development opportunites for Chapter members
- Schedule and plan career related activities for Chapter members
- Collaborates with Social Media Administrator to plan, promote, and advertise events on the Chapter's social media accounts

Promotional Director
- Lead efforts for creating and procuring promotional items
- Track Chapter's inventory levels for promotional items to Board

The mission of the Greater Chicago Chapter of the Penn State Alumni Association is to promote The Pennsylvania State University, its students and alumni in the Chicago area by providing educational, social, community service and philanthropic opportunities for its members and friends while upholding the values set forth by The Pennsylvania State University.
The Chapter geographic area is specifically defined by Postal Zip Codes which cover the Greater Chicago metropolitan area from Elkhart, Indiana to Rockford, Illinois. The Chapter is organized exclusively for social, cultural, charitable and educational purposes, including distributions of funds to organizations that qualify as exempt organizations under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
